Andrew Kasper to Speak at Symposium Honoring Judge James A. Wynn
On March 25, Parry Law attorney Andrew Kasper will be among a distinguished group of speakers at a symposium honoring Judge James A. Wynn Jr.
Judge Wynn was elected to the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 1990, where he remained until he was appointed by President Barack Obama to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in 2010.
Kasper, who served as Judge Wynn’s senior clerk from August 2016 until October 2019, will speak during the portion of the program dedicated to voting rights.
“Having served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the North Carolina Court of Appeals, Judge Wynn’s judicial legacy in North Carolina is second to none, particularly in the area of voting rights, where he has authored landmark opinions interpreting and applying numerous provisions in the U.S. Constitution and the Voting Rights Act,” says Kasper says. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to discuss Judge Wynn’s voting rights jurisprudence with this distinguished panel.”
Volume 100 of the North Carolina Law Review is organizing the virtual event. Sign up to attend via Zoom here.
The symposium’s speakers also include Anita Earls, associate justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina; Allison Riggs, co-executive director/chief counsel on voting rights for the Southern Coalition for Social Justice; Bob Edmunds, former associate justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina; Mark Martin, former chief justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina; Patricia Timmons-Goodson, former associate justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina; and Willis Whichard, former associate justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina.
